IMPROVING SOIL QUALITY WITH COHERENT WATER

PLANT AND SOIL RESEARCH

Feeding stable coherent water is a prerequisite for healthy plants and to enhance soil quality, which is essential for the well-being of plants longterm.

Our findings indicate that plants watered with Aalemma water exhibited higher bacterial diversity and nitrogen content in the soil, suggesting improved soil fertility. Further details about these noteworthy discoveries can be found in the following section.

Soil bacteria - the plant’s external gut

Plants have the remarkable ability to convert sunlight, water, and CO2 into food (sugars). These sugars are then used by plants to support the growth of new leaves, flowers, and fruits. However, there is also another fascinating process occurring beneath the surface.

As plants extend their roots deep into the soil, they excrete approximately 40% of their sugars into the surrounding thin layer of soil. Initially, this may appear to be a waste, but it is actually a clever strategy. Within this thin layer of soil, bacteria absorb the sugars and, in return, supply the plant with easily digestible forms of iron, phosphorus, nitrogen, and other vital minerals.

Plants cannot extract these compounds from the soil by themselves, therefore they form a symbiotic relationship with bacteria.

Soil bacteria are like the plant's extended gut, and they play an equally important role in plant health as the gut microbiome plays in our health.

Growth

In 2021, the bacterial diversity of cherry tomato plants that were watered with Aǹalemma water for a period of 4 months was analysed. The analysis utilized DNA sequencing, which is a cutting-edge technique for identifying various microorganisms present in soil samples.

The process is straightforward - once all DNA is extracted from the soil sample, the entire DNA is examined for the existence of a frequently known marker gene called 16S. By counting the quantity of 16S gene copies in a soil sample, we can effectively ascertain the number of distinct bacterial species found in that sample - a characteristic referred to as bacterial diversity.

The study found that the soil of plants watered with Aǹalemma water had a significantly higher bacterial diversity. This finding is particularly noteworthy because the soil used in the study had been heavily treated with glyphosate, which is known to negatively impact soil bacteria.

Positive effects on the Nitrogen cycle

Additionally, we conducted an analysis of the chemical makeup of the identical soil samples. Three factors associated with the nitrogen cycle experienced notable changes, indicating an overall rise in the soil's nitrogen content and an increased availability of nitrogen for plant utilisation.

The reason for this outcome can be attributed to soil microbes. Although organic nitrogen is naturally present in soil, it typically exists in inactive forms that plants cannot easily utilize. This is where bacteria play a role. Through a process called mineralization, soil bacteria transform inactive nitrogen into nitrates and ammonia, which plants can effectively metabolize and incorporate into their own proteins.

The use of Aǹalemma water for watering plants led to an increase in bacterial diversity. These bacterial communities appeared to have generated a higher amount of available nitrogen, which had an impact on all aspects of plant growth, health, and vitality.
